Alienware M14X: a test of 14 inch Core i7 Sandy Bridge and Geforce GT 555M

The new Alienware M14X laptop player we discover more features in late March  is revealed through a test, the opportunity to learn more about this 14-inch platform on Intel processor-Huron River Sandy Bridge and Nvidia next generation.

The Alienware M14X tested is equipped with an Intel HM67, Sandy Bridge processor Core i7-2820QM (1.3 GHz), 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz, a hard drive SATA II 750 GB 7200 rpm / min, a DVD burner, Bluetooth modules and wireless n and a Li-ion 8-cell 63Whr.

We also discover that the onboard graphics card is a Geforce GT 555M 3 GB dedicated and is coupled to the graphics Intel GMA 3000 HD integrated processor technology with Optimus , enough to gain autonomy when the performance of the Intel GMA 3000 HD are considered sufficient to meet the tasks performed by the user.

On the design side, Alienware is in line with its other models M1xX with a massive, angular lines and a backlit keyboard (customizable color). Below, we note that no pass-this is what some regret. It is designed plastic and metal. Its finish is pleasant to the touch.

The keyboard allows for comfortable typing and touchpad with two buttons is comfortable to use.

On the left are present VGA, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, USB 2.0, audio ports 3 and a card reader while the right side houses a DVD burner (slot-in), 2 USB 2.0, Ethernet and a fastener Kensington. No USB 3.0 so the program a priori, but we can always expect a pleasant surprise at that level at the launch of this laptop.

Once lit, the Alienware M14X adopts a theme with the colors of the Windows brand with a logo Alien.

The tests are not numerous, but we learn that the Alienware M14X gets tested in Cinebench R10 scores 5404 points (single core) and 18,083 points (multi-core). The hard drive gives him an average throughput of 87.2 MB read / sec
